“WORK WITH THE PASSION FROM YOUR HEART”

Following the last sharing from “Wonderful women around us”, Annam Gourmet brings to you the story of Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Anh – Manager of Annam Gourmet Saigon Center store and her journey to success today.

Q: Why did you choose to work at Annam Gourmet?

A: I had lived and worked in France for few years so that I was imbued with French culture. I am in love with the language, the culture, and the people of France. All the companies I worked for were French also.

Q: They said that men have more qualifies to be successful in business more than women. What do you think about this idea?

A: I don’t think so. We no longer care about gender anymore. Everyone is the same. The women have to spend more effort, as they have to do their best in both career and family life.

Q: How can you balance your career and your family life, and your hobbies also?

A: Well, for me, I see your job is not only for money but also a place where I sacrifice my passion then I never feel tired. And I can also save up my energy for my private life.

Q: Do you have any difficulties at work?

A: At work, everyone has times of getting stuck and difficult. However, learning and improving will help me solve problems more quickly and easily. Always stay calm in everything to be able to give the best solution. The only way to overcome difficulties is to act, work with a passion that comes from your heart, then you will find a solution.

Q: The way you encourage the staff, especially some women employees who are quite self-conscious at work.

A: I always closely monitors and encourages the staff. Some female employees think that they needn’t try their best and make enough money for their lives as they are women. I always try to encourage them. My motto is men or women are the same. If they can do it, we can do it too. As long as we are determined and try our best, we will be successful, more or less.

Q: How do you feel after 1.5 years working at Annam Gourmet?

A: Before working here, I have already loved this place. Annam Gourmet is where I can find the specialties from far-away countries. Besides, Annam Gourmet also gives customers the feeling of choosing the best quality products with an extremely professional service style. The last thing is, Annam Gourmet is one of the first supermarkets that pioneered the green, environmentally responsible lifestyle.

Q: How do you keep the peace among the staff?

A: From the beginning, I have always understood that there cannot be factions. A swallow does not make spring. We have to unite and love each other, try to strive to develop a better business as a team, a family.

Q: Your advice to young women who want to start a business or become a future leader.

A: Nothing is impossible. We can do everything when we do it with enthusiasm from our hearts. Once you love your job, you will always be successful.

WHEN SUCCESS GAINED FROM SYMPATHY AND UNDERSTANDING

As a Supervisor of the Customer Service team at the Central Kitchen – a position that requires many different skills, Ms.Vu Nguyen Phuong Tram always tries her best to supports employees with understanding and empathy to find solutions for all problems together.

Q: What is your daily job at Central Kitchen?
A: Before, I did almost everything, including supporting the production team. Currently, after arrangement and some changes, my team mainly works in the office. However, we also manage the delivery team. I am in charge of receiving orders, then make production plans for the kitchen team to provide enough quantity to customers, deliver goods and collect comments from customers about products.

Q: What are some pressures that you face doing this job?
A: Pressure is inevitable. I still remember when I first worked with the delivery team, I followed them on the first trip. I want to have a better understanding of their work, as well as their difficulties and struggles so I’ll be able to help and support them in the best way.

Q: Has this job affected your personal life much?
A: Sometimes it does, but for me it’s inevitable. I work directly with customers. We are in the supermarket industry and the specificity of this one is working 24/7, even on holiday. So sometimes, when customers contact me after work or even on my days off, I still try to support them as much as possible.

Q: Do you think that is your secret to success?
A: I don’t consider it a secret or any achievement. However, I always try to put myself in the others’ shoes to know what they have been through and their efforts to finish their jobs. So that I can understand and deliver the best supports to them.

Q: Do you have any encouragement or advice for young women today?
A: For me, up to now, I think that as long as I want it, I will get it. If you haven’t got it yet, it means you are not trying hard enough. One of my little pieces of advice to you is to do whatever you like, then you will have enough determination and passion to do it all.

I think it all depends on you, as long as you are happy and satisfy with your choices.

Q: Do you have any advice for the young ladies?

A: Each person has their own choices and path. You can find advice on the Internet and in many books. I am just an ordinary woman who went to school, then worked, got married, had children and retired already, maybe my advice is not suitable for the young generation because there is too much information you can find or people for you to follow. However, In my opinion, no matter what generation you are from, as a woman, we should focus on our family. Learn to take care of your health and love yourself. You can’t love someone unless you love yourself first.

Q: What is one of the most challenges that women face nowadays, in your opinion?

THE STORY OF GIOVANNI AND THE JOURNEY TO BRING PASTA OUT OF ITALY!

Giovanni had a passion for flour when he was very young. In 1950, he and his brothers opened a bakery in San Giovanni di Lupatoto. Years later, when people started working outside the home, they didn’t have much time for the dough, then Giovanni thought about home delivery. And his very first investment was in his bicycle so he could take his bread anywhere.
On March 28, 1962, Pastificio Rana officially opened its doors. With the support of local engineers and mechanics, Giovanni designed and developed new equipment to address the challenge of the growing demand for pasta. The expense was not easy to sustain, but the results spoke for them: production rises from fifteen kilograms of tortellini an hour to hundreds of kilograms an hour….
In 1971, he found a new location for himself and the factory. Not only did the business grow, but so did Giovanni’s ambitions. He knew he needed to find a new way to bring pasta to people who didn’t even know it existed.
In a few years, his American dream came true… even bigger!
The first factory in Chicago and the first restaurants in New York, in the fascinating streets of Chelsea Market, both opened.
What are you waiting for?
Dine with Rana!
Rigorously selected ingredients such as eggs from free-range farms, colorless natural powder, and produced recipes that respect the tradition, Giovanni Rana pasta like tagliatelle, spaghetti, ravioli, tortelloni, and gnocchi will give you truly Italian flavor dishes.
Now available at all Annam Gourmet stores, don’t miss out!

“DON’T LET YOUR WEAKNESS PREVENT YOU FROM SUCCESS”

As the first Bakery Kitchen Female Supervisor at Central Kitchen, where only prioritizes to recruit men because of the heavy work, Ms.Truong Khanh Quynh, with determination and perseverance, has been realizing her dream and constantly pursuing her passion!

Q: How long have you been doing this job?
A: For more than a year.

Q: What have you been through and the difficulties you have encountered to get to this position?
A: Be a bakery chef is one of the breakthroughs in my life. Before this, I worked in Tourism Industry and spent few years working overseas. During that time, I had opportunities to meet and talk to many pastry chefs, who also oriented me towards the pastry kitchen because this is more suitable for girls. So after 4 years working abroad, I returned to Vietnam and decided to spend a year studying a professional bakery course. I planned to go to Australia to follow my passion when I finished my study. However, due to the pandemic, I could not go then I decided to work in Vietnam. I applied to many places, but I guess fate led me to Annam Gourmet. At that time, there was no vacant position in the pastry kitchen, I was asked to work at the bakery one. Annam Gourmet likes my second family. Everyone supports and helps me a lot. With efforts and a little luck, after 6 months, I became the first Bakery kitchen female Supervisor.

Q: As a supervisor, how did you encourage your staff when they encountered difficulties at work, especially the female staff?
A: I will try to arrange the work suitable for them. I also shared my story to encourage my staff. It is important to find what you love. You may feel discouraged sometimes but remember why you start. Once you have identified your goals and passion, you will overcome them.

Q: The tasks in the bakery kitchen are quite heavy and require good physical strength. So do you feel a bit disadvantaged compared to the male friends?
A: At first, I think physical strength was one of my weaknesses compared to the guys. However, in terms of spirit and dedication, we are all the same. There are many ways to improve physical strength. Efficient task arrangement or team-work are also ways to solve the problem.

Q: How has this work affected your personal life?
A: Pretty much actually, especially during the high season. In the past, I worked in the Service industry, so I understand the specificity and nature of the industry’s work. I always think that no matter what job I do, in the first 2 years, I will devote myself to that job. After that, when I am familiar with the work, I will learn how to arrange it efficiently to balance work and personal life.

Q: What is your future orientation?
A: Maybe I will continue to study, improve my knowledge and professional skills. I also want to experience more in different environments and positions to be a better version of myself.

LOVING MARCH WITH ANNAM GOURMET’S WOMEN CUSTOMERS!

Annam Gourmet would like to thank our customers for your trust and companionship until today. At the same time, we would like to send our best wishes to half of the world on the occasion of loving March!
Let’s take a look on Mrs.Ha – Gold member at Annam Gourmet and her sharing about Annam Gourmet, as well as the young ladies!

Q: What do you like most when shopping at Annam Gourmet?
A: The first thing to mention is the food, which is delicious and fresh. I often buy salads for myself, ham and cheese for my husband. Secondly, I love the space at Annam Gourmet, giving me a feeling of excitement and comfort. Every day I come here to have lunch with my husband.

Q: What is your current job?
A: I teach knitting and crocheting for orphans or the women at the Local Women’s Union and Thanh Nien cultural house to help people gain more money. I have been doing this for 7-8 years.

Q: What is your motivation to maintain and execute this job for many years?
A: The starting point is from my daughter. When she was a child, I often knitted hats for her, and she loved them. I was also questioned and praised by everyone. Since then, I learned more about this and formed my passion. Later, seeing the children in orphanages or the women who have been through hard times can have more income from handmade knitting items; this motivates me every day.

Q: Do you have any advice for the young ladies?
A: I can see all the girls in this generation are good, very active and enthusiastic. Because of that, sometimes we neglect our family and forget to take care of the house. As a person from another generation, my opinions might slightly different from you all. However, I think no matter how strong and energetic we are on the outside, as Asian women, we better spend more time with our family, be soft and gentle. And also learn to balance between family and career.
